Software Engineer, Model Deployment- ChatGPT Engineering

About the Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI technology organization seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Model Deployment to join their London office. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and production infrastructure, supporting one of the industry's most demanding GPU-powered inference systems.

You'll build the systems and tooling that enable reliable, efficient model deployments at scale. This includes deployment orchestration, configuration management, operational automation, and capacity planning—transforming complex manual processes into scalable platform capabilities that serve engineering teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop platform systems for deploying, configuring, and managing models in production environments
• Build deployment orchestration, model rollout systems, and operational visibility tools
• Create abstractions and tooling that simplify infrastructure complexity and improve developer experience
• Automate operational workflows including incident detection, diagnosis, mitigation, and recovery
• Enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency of model deployments and supporting infrastructure
• Develop systems for capacity planning, resource allocation, and infrastructure utilization
• Collaborate with research, infrastructure, and product teams to identify challenges and deliver reusable platform solutions
• Shape technical direction of the model management platform as systems evolve

What We're Looking For

• Five or more years of software engineering experience building production infrastructure
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, C++, Rust, or comparable languages
• Proven experience designing or operating highly available distributed systems
• Background in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, production engineering, site reliability engineering, or similar disciplines
• Strong systems design, debugging, and operational problem-solving abilities
• Experience with deployment systems, orchestration, configuration management, or infrastructure automation
• Understanding of production reliability, observability, capacity planning, and incident response
• Track record of building internal platforms or large-scale production infrastructure
• Ability to transform complex operational problems into reliable software and reusable abstractions
• Comfort working across organizational boundaries with ownership from design through production
• Strong communication skills and collaborative approach across engineering teams
• Thrives in fast-moving environments with technical ambiguity
