Security Engineer (Full Remote – Germany)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology company in their search for a Security Engineer to join their fully remote team in Germany. Our client is a fast-growing organization building consumer-facing AI products at significant scale, serving millions of users globally.

This is a hands-on security role where you'll take ownership of protecting applications, users, and infrastructure as the platform continues to scale rapidly. You'll work across application security, risk management, compliance, and security awareness, reporting directly to the Security Lead. Given the nature of AI-generated content products, you'll play a critical role in maintaining both system security and user safety with real ownership from day one.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly code reviews to identify and address vulnerabilities before deployment
• Track, prioritize, and drive remediation of security vulnerabilities across the technology stack
• Coordinate external security audits and penetration tests, managing follow-through on findings
• Maintain and evolve the company risk register, mapping all services and prioritizing exposure areas
• Support audit processes and maintain governance, risk, and compliance documentation
• Communicate emerging threats to technical teams, document findings, and broadcast security updates company-wide
• Run phishing simulations and security training programs
• Own monitoring of security channels and alerts, including weekend coverage rotation
• Manage device security (MDM) for new employees and handle access provisioning/deprovisioning
• Monitor emerging attack techniques targeting generative AI systems, including prompt injection, jailbreaks, and content filter bypass attempts
• Track security incidents and vulnerabilities from third-party AI providers

What We're Looking For

Required Technical Skills:

• Solid experience in application security, including code review and vulnerability management
• Experience coordinating or conducting penetration tests and security audits
• Comfortable shipping code and working with Git/GitHub workflows
• Scripting and automation capabilities
• Perfectly fluent in English communication

Bonus Skills:

• Familiarity with AI/LLM security concepts such as prompt injection, jailbreaking, and adversarial testing (curiosity and willingness to learn in this emerging field is valued)

Pay

The client has indicated an estimated salary range of €65,000 to €115,000 annually, depending on experience level (mid-level: €65K-€85K; senior: €85K-€115K). Final compensation is determined by the client based on assessed experience, scope, location, and market data.
