Senior Engineer, Accounting Infrastructure and Systems

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in London who is building out their Accounting Infrastructure and Engineering function. This Senior Engineer role sits at the intersection of financial operations and data engineering, designing and maintaining the scalable backend services, data pipelines, and integrations that power critical accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting workflows.

Working closely with Finance, Accounting, and engineering teams, you'll translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into reliable, automated systems that ensure accuracy, auditability, and compliance at scale. This is a high-impact position where you'll take technical ownership of critical projects while mentoring junior engineers and shaping architectural best practices.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of critical accounting infrastructure projects, designing and building backend services, data pipelines, and integrations that power financial reporting, reconciliation, and close workflows at scale
• Partner directly with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into reliable, auditable, and automated systems
• Shape the team's architecture and engineering best practices, mentoring junior engineers and raising the technical bar across the organization
• Drive measurable improvements in data accuracy, pipeline reliability, and system performance in a compliance-critical environment
• Build and maintain scalable systems that support financial processes while ensuring auditability and regulatory compliance

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in software or data engineering, with a strong track record of owning and delivering complex backend or data infrastructure projects
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and data engineering, with hands-on experience in modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, or similar tools
• Ability to navigate the intersection of engineering and finance, with understanding of concepts like revenue recognition, reconciliation, and auditability sufficient to build systems that meet those requirements
• Collaborative, low-ego approach with ability to effectively partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, and Engineering
• Familiarity with SOX controls, data quality frameworks, or financial systems (e.g., NetSuite) is a strong advantage
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Pay
