(Senior) Team Head Accounting (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Senior Team Head for Accounting to join their team in München. In this key leadership role, you will shape the financial and strategic development of the business while taking ownership of critical transformation and accounting initiatives.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Leading the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to IFRS, HGB, and other relevant accounting standards, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Directing strategic transformation and optimization projects, including carve-outs, process restructuring, and implementation of new business models and accounting frameworks
• Continuously developing accounting, reporting, and control processes to drive quality, transparency, and efficiency across the finance function
• Serving as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulatory authorities, investors, and internal departments while managing external audits and regulatory compliance requirements
• Providing both technical and disciplinary leadership to cross-location teams, fostering professional development and creating a motivating, performance-driven work environment

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate brings:

• A successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable field
• Several years of professional experience in group accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting within a complex corporate environment
• Deep expertise in IFRS and HGB accounting standards, with knowledge of regulatory requirements and capital market reporting obligations
• Strong SAP experience (preferred)
• Proven track record leading transformation, change management, or process optimization projects with sustainable results
• Outstanding analytical and conceptual abilities with the capacity to maintain oversight of complex, cross-functional challenges
• Strong leadership competencies combined with a hands-on mentality and the ability to inspire teams, drive development, and achieve shared goals
• Fluency in both German and English for confident business communication
