Working Student Ground Robotics (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential robotics organization in the Munich area. They are seeking a Working Student to join their ground robotics predevelopment team, where early-stage concepts are transformed into functional prototypes. You'll contribute to tracked vehicle demonstrators and exploration projects alongside experienced engineers from systems, mechatronics, embedded, and verification disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a clearly defined module or work package within ground robotics projects, with mentorship from senior engineers
• Clarify technical requirements and interfaces, develop concepts, and evaluate practical implementation options
• Design mechanical assemblies, electrical units, or software modules based on your background and interests
• Produce CAD models, technical drawings, wiring documentation, code, configuration files, or component lists as needed
• Build and integrate your solution into prototypes working collaboratively with the project team
• Plan and execute bench tests or vehicle trials, analyze outcomes, and iterate on designs
• Document your work thoroughly and present progress in technical review sessions

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, robotics, computer science, or a related field
• Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on technical work and interest in mobile robotics and prototyping
• Practical experience from university projects, student teams, internships, hobby projects, or workshop activities
• Foundational knowledge in at least one area: CAD and mechanical design, electronics and wiring, Python/Linux, embedded systems, testing methodologies, or data evaluation
• Careful and reliable work habits with strong documentation practices
• Comfortable asking clarifying questions and learning from experienced team members
• English communication skills required; German language skills are beneficial
• Based in or willing to work on-site in the Gilching area
