About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in the home and field services space. Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their growth-focused engineering team working on a leading invoicing platform used by hundreds of thousands of small business owners, contractors, and freelancers worldwide.

This is a remote opportunity based in Canada, offering the chance to work on a rapidly growing product with massive adoption and direct impact on entrepreneurial success.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical reference on a small, highly focused team of engineers building and supporting platform growth
• Influence the work of team members and mentor emerging technical leaders
• Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to refine the product roadmap
• Stay current with new technologies, frameworks, and tooling that can improve the software development lifecycle
• Plan and drive execution of product features, actively participating in software development activities and shipping code
• Take a leading role in product refinement sessions and ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions
• Promote scalable design, best engineering practices, and quality standards across the team
• Own your changes from design through development, automated testing, and deployment to production

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of professional experience delivering scalable software solutions as a software engineer
• 3+ years building modern applications using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind
• Strong data-driven mindset with natural curiosity and questioning approach
• Passion for crafting innovative, scalable, and robust solutions for open-ended problems
• Familiarity with cloud computing services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
• Understanding of common software vulnerabilities and remediation approaches
• Deep understanding of the Node.js ecosystem and associated tooling (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
• Extensive expertise in database modeling and caching technologies across relational and document stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and construction
• Experience with large-scale third-party integrations
• Experience across multiple programming paradigms (object-oriented, functional)
• Familiarity with modern version control and continuous integration solutions (Git, Docker, GitHub Actions)
• Passion for automated testing and quality code reviews
• Experience with agile development methodologies and tools (JIRA, Scrum, Kanban)
• Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship

Nice to Have:

• Experience with massively adopted applications (100k+ users), web or mobile
• Mobile application development experience with React Native
• Web application development experience with Next.js, focusing on server-side components
• Experience managing in-app subscriptions across multiple platforms
• Familiarity with data-driven experiments and A/B testing
• Leadership experience with proven ability to mentor and grow engineering teammates
• Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

Pay

The client offers a base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000 CAD per year, plus benefits including RRSP with 4% company match, wellness stipend, flexible time off, and employee stock purchase program. Final compensation is determined by location, experience, and expertise.
