Android Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI technology client building next-generation productivity applications. This is a hands-on Android Software Engineer role where you will own the entire mobile client experience for AI-native features used by millions of users worldwide.

This is not a thin client position. You will architect and build production Android applications where AI interactions—chat, vision, voice, and intelligent recommendations—are central to the product. Performance, reliability, and user experience quality are critical success metrics.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production Android applications using Kotlin
• Integrate AI-powered features including conversational interfaces, vision processing, and voice capabilities via backend APIs
• Design and implement UX patterns optimized for AI interactions, handling streaming responses, retry logic, and partial result displays
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, and responsiveness for compute-intensive AI workflows
• Implement comprehensive analytics, logging, and user feedback systems to support continuous AI model evaluation
• Collaborate closely with backend and machine learning engineers on API contracts and system behavior
• Ensure application stability, security, and scalability in production environments serving global users
• Profile and debug performance issues in environments with latency, partial failures, and non-deterministic AI behavior

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional Android development experience using Kotlin
• Proven experience integrating AI features such as large language models, vision APIs, or speech recognition into mobile applications
• Strong command of asynchronous programming patterns using Coroutines and Flow
• Solid understanding of REST or gRPC APIs and structured data formats
• Demonstrated debugging and performance profiling skills on Android platform
• Comfort working with systems exhibiting latency, partial failures, and non-deterministic behavior
• Experience with MLKit or on-device inference implementations is valuable
• Track record of publishing production applications to Google Play Store
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and bring structure to ambiguous problems

Technical environment: Kotlin/Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, TensorFlow Lite for on-device inference.
