This company is building advanced software infrastructure to accelerate renewable energy adoption at scale. They've recently secured significant funding and are entering a high-growth phase, seeking experienced backend engineers to architect critical systems that power intelligent energy management solutions.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design and implement the core platform that connects hardware, data streams, and user experiences. You'll work on event-driven architectures, API development, and automation tooling that creates measurable environmental impact. This role offers genuine technical ownership—from initial design through deployment and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, event-driven architectures using Go and Kafka across multiple product domains
• Develop high-quality APIs and data integrations connecting platform services to physical devices, external systems, and user interfaces
• Integrate LLMs and machine learning models into backend services to solve complex operational challenges
• Take end-to-end ownership of services from design, testing, deployment through long-term monitoring and maintenance
• Design automation solutions using workflow engines, low-code platforms, and custom code to deliver business value
• Build scalable systems supporting real-time data processing and intelligent orchestration

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Background:

• 3+ years of software engineering experience in high-performance environments such as top-tier consulting firms, fast-scaling startups, or similar demanding contexts
• Proven track record of end-to-end ownership in backend engineering or DevOps/infrastructure roles
• Strong academic or professional background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields
• Fluent English required; German is a plus

Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Go or similar high-performance backend languages
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems (Kafka or equivalent)
• Familiarity with workflow automation tools and a pragmatic "right tool for the job" approach
• Comfortable with spec-driven, AI-assisted development workflows
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability practices
