Backend Engineer (Go) – AI Security Platform

About This Role

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization building next-generation security products for AI agents and LLM-powered applications. Our talent team is recruiting for multiple Backend Engineer positions focused on Go development across several critical product areas.

This is a remote-first opportunity based in the United States, with start dates beginning November 2026. Depending on your background and interests, you may work on real-time policy enforcement, high-performance security gateways, multi-tenant platform foundations, cloud discovery services, forensics infrastructure, or AI risk research tooling.

The core technology stack includes Go, Python, gRPC/REST, event streaming platforms, Kubernetes, and major cloud providers. AI-assisted development is a fundamental part of the engineering workflow at this organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production Go services with high standards for performance, reliability, and multi-tenancy
• Design APIs and data models, owning service contracts, idempotency, retry logic, and back-pressure handling
• Build event-driven pipelines and integrations with cloud platforms, internal systems, and AI frameworks
• Own service reliability through comprehensive testing, observability, CI/CD pipelines, and production readiness practices
• Use Python for tooling, testing, migrations, automation, and data workflows
• Collaborate with AI engineers, security researchers, and product teams on threat models and enforcement logic
• Leverage AI coding assistants as part of daily development, testing, and debugging activities

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience, including 2+ years building production services in Go (senior roles require 6+ years overall and 3+ years in Go)
• Strong understanding of Go concurrency, networking, and performance, including goroutines, channels, context management, and profiling
• Working knowledge of Python
• Experience designing gRPC and REST APIs, working with protobuf, and building asynchronous/event-driven systems such as Kafka or equivalent
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases in distributed systems
• Strong testing discipline and attention to data correctness
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Active use of modern AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools—this is essential
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a remote-first, distributed environment

Preferred experience:

• API gateways, proxies, policy/authorization engines, or service meshes
• Deep knowledge of a major cloud provider's APIs and IAM models
• Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, ClickHouse, or other search/indexing and columnar data systems at scale
• LLM agent frameworks, tool-calling protocols, and AI security
• Multi-tenant SaaS platform architecture
• Cybersecurity, security tooling, or trust and safety domains
• Introducing AI-assisted or agentic development workflows across engineering teams
