Software Engineer

We are representing a confidential identity and access management technology company seeking a Software Engineer to join their Bristol-based development team. You'll contribute to a market-leading platform that provides secure identification, authentication, and authorization solutions at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an agile development team to implement high-quality product features
• Use AI tooling as a practical part of the engineering workflow to accelerate discovery and delivery
• Collaborate with product management to improve the platform and develop new features
• Understand and improve local and cloud deployment configurations
• Plan and estimate development work within sprint cycles
• Maintain existing codebase and resolve reported defects
• Actively contribute to team culture and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong familiarity with Java programming language
• Desire to learn and curiosity to understand how and why systems work
• Strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities
• Ability to learn quickly and independently, gathering information about complex features and environments
• Experience using AI engineering tools to accelerate research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation

Bonus qualifications:

• Familiarity with UI development using JavaScript and frameworks like Vue or React
• Experience with development tools including IDEs, Git, Jenkins, Maven, or Bazel
• Solid understanding of RESTful web services
• Experience with identity management technologies and protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, certificate and key management, cryptography)
• Understanding of enterprise-scale systems and security configurations
• Grounding in modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and web application architecture
