Customer Development Manager – Wakefern

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer goods organization in their search for a Customer Development Manager to lead strategic sales and marketing initiatives for a major retail account. This is a remote role based in the USA, with occasional flexibility to work from an office location preferred.

In this position, you will own the delivery of sales objectives across volume, spending, and retail execution. You will formulate and execute strategic plans to maximize growth and profitability while managing the business P&L. This role requires strong leadership skills as you will have direct reports and collaborate across cross-functional teams to champion account strategies and drive incremental growth through consumer insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer marketing strategies that incorporate consumer insights and competitive landscape awareness to create promotional programs that deliver mutual value
• Establish and maintain partnerships with direct reports, cross-functional teams, brokers, and customer retail teams built on trust and integrity
• Coach and develop junior talent while leading your team to execute against strategic goals
• Influence internal and external partners through collaboration, negotiation, and thought leadership
• Continuously improve strategies through creative problem-solving, pre- and post-evaluation analysis, and ROI assessments
• Analyze business trends through fact-based review of brand share, pricing, promotion levels, and trade class development
• Understand and optimize the effectiveness of different investment levers to drive account performance

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• 4+ years in sales roles or related experience
• Experience working with syndicated data services (Nielsen, IRI)
• Previous people leadership experience, including managing and developing teams

Preferred qualifications:

• Background in consumer packaged goods
• Experience working with major grocery retail accounts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, Docs)

Compensation for this role is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Our client offers a competitive base salary range, discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing opportunities, and long-term incentives for qualifying roles.
