About This Opportunity
We are representing a rapidly growing e-commerce marketplace in their search for a Senior Product Manager, Retail based in London. This is a hybrid role with a focus on building differentiated shopping experiences across multiple retail verticals.
Our client operates a complex, consumer-facing platform serving millions of users. They are expanding their retail portfolio and need a strategic product leader to define and execute category-specific experiences that drive conversion and repeat purchasing behavior.
Responsibilities
- Define Category Strategy: Formulate the experience strategy for retail categories and decide which initiatives to prioritize for maximum growth and impact
- Execute Product Initiatives: Translate category promises into concrete, testable product features—such as specialized shopping flows, personalized recommendations, or unique fulfillment experiences—and ship them end to end
- Optimize Category Surfaces: Own the merchandising and storefront surfaces that differentiate one vertical from another while maintaining a cohesive overall experience
- Leverage Platform Capabilities: Partner with shared infrastructure teams to build bespoke category experiences without rebuilding core systems
- Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business development, sales, catalog, and search teams to ensure category surfaces are powered by accurate data and align with merchant relationships
- Measure Impact: Use data, customer insight, and experimentation to prioritize initiatives, define success metrics, and directly influence conversion and retention
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven Consumer Product Experience: Demonstrated success in product management on consumer-facing products, ideally within e-commerce, marketplaces, or multi-sided platforms
- Track Record of Innovation: Proven ability to ship new or highly differentiated shopping experiences, navigating ambiguity to break broad opportunities into focused, testable initiatives
- Strong Analytical Capabilities: Comfort driving data-informed prioritization, establishing robust success metrics, and utilizing experimentation to measure impact
- Stakeholder Partnership: Experience partnering closely with engineering, design, and analytics teams as well as commercial teams to align business needs with product strategy
- Customer-Obsessed Product Instinct: Natural intuition for customer behavior and understanding what makes a shopping experience compelling and drives retention
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience working with merchandising, category management, product detail pages, or specialized shopping flows
- Experience working with catalog or search product areas to power front-end surfaces with complex item data
