ENGINEER/POST-DOC POSITION OFFER : in Stretchable Electronics & Optics for Artificial Skin – 12 months

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a prestigious European research institution focused on microelectronics and flexible electronics. This 12-month contract position is based in Gardanne, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France, and offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research in stretchable optical sensing and artificial skin applications as part of a multi-partner European collaboration.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Engineer to join a specialized department working on soft electronics innovation. You will work within a state-of-the-art 660m² platform featuring advanced cleanroom facilities and specialized equipment for micropackaging and nano-electronics research.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and characterize elastomer waveguides for pressure and temperature sensing applications
• Integrate optically pressure- or temperature-sensitive materials into elastomer waveguide structures
• Conduct characterization and validation testing of complete sensing devices
• Operate and further develop Python-based test benches and experimental setups
• Perform hands-on laboratory work within cleanroom environments
• Collaborate with European research partners including institutions in Switzerland, UK, Austria, and beyond
• Contribute to the development of artificial skin demonstrators combining stretchable electronics with optical systems
• Document research findings and contribute to project deliverables

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree (Bac+5) or PhD in engineering sciences, electronics and embedded systems, or related field
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Autonomous, curious, and rigorous approach to technological innovation
• Passion for practical laboratory work and experimentation
• Ability to develop rigorous scientific methodology

Highly Valued Skills:

• Knowledge of optics, photonics, soft electronics, or materials science
• Experience working in cleanroom environments
• Electronic design and circuitry expertise
• Experience with Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi platforms
• Familiarity with fabrication and characterization of optical components (LEDs, photodiodes)

Contract Details:

• 12-month fixed-term contract
• Full-time, executive-level position
• Target start date: March 1, 2027
• Position open to civil servants (Category A) and contract employees
