We are representing a confidential AI consultancy based in Munich that helps enterprises transform cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies into production-ready applications and scalable digital products. Our talent team is seeking a Junior AI Application Engineer who is passionate about building AI-powered solutions and intelligent product features using modern machine learning and generative AI technologies.
This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering, backend development, product development, and cloud deployment. While the client's GenAI engineers focus on model development and AI architectures, you'll concentrate on developing user-centric AI applications and translating AI capabilities into scalable products that deliver real business value.
Responsibilities
As a Junior AI Application Engineer, you'll design and develop AI-powered applications and product features for enterprise customers:
- Conceive and develop AI applications including enterprise assistants, copilots, semantic search platforms, and automation systems
- Support development of LLM-based solutions (including RAG) and end-to-end AI products, integrating APIs, enterprise data, and backend services
- Build scalable AI microservices, APIs, vector search systems, embedding pipelines, and retrieval architectures
- Rapidly prototype AI features and evolve them into production-ready systems
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, AI engineers, and customers to develop impactful solutions
- Deploy AI systems to cloud and production environments using modern DevOps practices
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and observability through CI/CD, monitoring, and containerized deployments
Example projects you might work on: Enterprise AI knowledge assistants, AI copilots for internal business tools, semantic search platforms for enterprise data, document intelligence systems based on LLMs, and AI agents for enterprise workflow automation.
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or comparable technical field
- Programming skills in Python and modern backend frameworks, plus experience with AI, machine learning, and generative AI applications
- Initial experience developing scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices
- Knowledge of RAG, vector databases, and retrieval technologies
- Practical experience with containerization and DevOps (Docker, CI/CD, Kubernetes)
- Experience deploying AI services in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with relevant frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Hugging Face
- Understanding of monitoring, observability, and evaluation/optimization of LLM systems
- Excellent German and English skills for workshops and communication
What our client offers: Hybrid working arrangements, regular internal and external training opportunities in generative AI, LLM development, cloud architecture and data science, award-winning office space in central Munich with public transit access, Deutschland ticket support, EGYM Wellpass sports membership, and a collaborative environment within a broader expert network.
