Finnish Tech Linguistic Tester

Overview

We are representing a confidential client in the language services sector seeking a Finnish Tech Linguistic Tester for a remote position. In this role, you will proofread and edit content localized into Finnish, ensuring accuracy in grammar, syntax, punctuation, capitalization, and cultural appropriateness. You will also evaluate user interfaces for functional issues and occasionally translate content from English to Finnish.

Responsibilities

• Proofread and edit localized Finnish content to ensure high quality and cultural appropriateness
• Identify and report errors including grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation, capitalization, and inconsistencies
• Test user interfaces for functional issues and report defects using client-specific bug tracking tools
• Evaluate translations in the context of software, mobile apps, and documentation
• Follow testing instructions and test cases accurately while maintaining quality standards
• Serve as a subject matter expert for linguistic issues in Finnish; research and resolve language questions
• Adhere to project-specific quality standards, style guides, glossaries, and client-preferred checklists
• Troubleshoot basic technical problems and escalate issues effectively
• Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail

What We're Looking For

• Native-level or fully bilingual fluency in Finnish (both spoken and written)
• Strong English skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years professional translation and localization experience
• Up-to-date awareness of current and common technical language usage in Finnish
• Deep familiarity with Finnish culture and trends
• Experience with MS applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to navigate networks and websites with different browsers
• Basic knowledge of PC hardware (desktop and laptop)
• Basic knowledge of smartphones (iPhone or Android)
• Familiarity with Android and iOS operating systems
• Active user of social media platforms
• Experience with consumer devices including messaging, health, fitness, calendar, and organizational tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent time management
• Highly organized with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently
