About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential insurtech organization that is transforming how specialty insurance markets operate through innovative technology. Our client is seeking a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to lead a team and deliver tailored technical solutions that bridge engineering, sales, and client success.
This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site in the City of London area.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis of client business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions using domain-specific functional programming languages
- Manage and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, setting clear objectives and providing coaching for professional development
- Own the design, configuration, and delivery of formal specifications for insurance products across multiple lines of business (marine, aviation, political violence, etc.)
- Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, shaping solutions that align with their strategic goals
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to customize platform solutions for client needs
- Build and manage platform integrations, ensuring reliable delivery and ongoing technical support
- Demonstrate product value and technical credibility to senior stakeholders
- Drive proof of value and pilot projects critical to business growth

Required qualifications:
- Strong foundation in programming with comfort in domain-specific or functional languages
- Proven experience leading and developing teams with a track record of building high-performing cultures
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including client leadership
- Ability to thrive in fast-changing environments and operate with ambiguity and autonomy
- Solutions-driven mindset with focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for tackling complex, real-world problems
- Ability to learn new platforms and domains quickly and apply knowledge effectively
Preferred experience:
- Background in insurtech, insurance, or related industries
- Experience in distributed work environments
- Collaborative approach with emphasis on product quality
