Responsibilities

As a working student, you will support our client—a confidential sustainability organization—in shaping, implementing, and monitoring public strategies and measures for climate-friendly maritime transport and port operations. Working closely with stakeholders across the maritime sector, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with market, potential, and environmental analyses and evaluating technology options and business models for climate-friendly shipping and ports
• Supporting the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of national action plans for climate-friendly shipping and port strategy measures
• Assisting with tender and procurement processes, managing external contracts, and preparing documents for governmental clients
• Supporting technical advisory work related to the development of regulations and standards for alternative ship propulsion systems and fuels
• Helping design and implement funding programs in the field of climate-friendly shipping and ports
• Supporting networking activities in working groups with authorities, industry, academia, and associations, as well as communications and public relations work, including preparation of events, meetings, and workshops

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in natural sciences, engineering (mechanical engineering, drive technology, naval architecture, transportation, industrial engineering), economics, political science, or related fields
• Previous professional experience through internships or similar roles in industry, service companies, industry associations, public administration, or academic institutions
• Ideally, knowledge and experience related to the maritime economy (shipping, shipbuilding, supplier industries, port operations) and technical understanding of alternative propulsion systems and fuel infrastructures
• Preferably, familiarity with funding programs/projects and networking with authorities, industry, academia, and/or associations
• Team-oriented, resilient, reliable, and motivated
• Good English language skills and very good proficiency with standard MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Commitment to sustainable mobility strategies

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension, based in Berlin Fasanenstrasse with up to 60% remote work flexibility. The weekly hours are flexible to accommodate your study schedule, ideally around 19.5 hours per week.
