Responsibilities
We are representing a rapidly growing e-commerce organization in Berlin that requires a talented Data Platform Engineer to build and operate modern data infrastructure. In this role, you will design and maintain scalable data platforms using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring high-quality data flows reliably to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications across the business.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and continuously improving modern data pipelines in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric
- Ensuring high data quality, completeness, and reproducibility while implementing efficient incremental data loading processes
- Building and maintaining efficient ETL/ELT processes and API-based data integrations
- Developing robust monitoring, logging, and error handling concepts while continuously optimizing performance, costs, and data workflows
- Contributing to the development of a scalable data architecture including test, staging, and production environments using modern technologies such as CI/CD, Fabric Pipelines, dbt, or Airflow
- Collaborating closely with data leadership and analysts to deliver high-quality data for Power BI dashboards and machine learning models
What We're Looking For
Our client seeks a skilled professional with at least 3-5 years of experience building and operating data pipelines or data platforms. Senior-level candidates are preferred, though motivated mid-level professionals are welcome to apply.
Required qualifications:
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure Data Services, particularly Data Factory and/or Azure Synapse; experience with Microsoft Fabric is highly valuable
- Excellent SQL and Python skills, especially for ETL/ELT processes and automation
- Experience with data modeling, ideally using Bronze, Silver, and Gold layer architectures
- Knowledge of data quality management, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization
- Proven track record of independently executing technical projects with a structured, solution-oriented approach
- Strong team orientation and enthusiasm for working in an international environment
- Fluent German or English (minimum B1 German required if English is primary language)
Valuable additional skills:
- Experience with incremental loading processes and delta processing
- Data integration experience for Power BI and semantic models
- E-commerce or marketplace platform knowledge
- API-based data integration expertise
- CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Interest in machine learning and building data-driven organizations
- Experience with Openbridge
The position offers a hybrid working model with 2 home office days per week, flexible hours (start time between 6:00-10:00), and 30 days vacation. The office is located in Berlin-Lichtenberg with excellent public transport connections and free parking.
