Internal Audit & Investigations Senior Associate

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization operating across multiple African markets. They have recently crossed a significant milestone of millions of customers served and are now building out their investigations function to match the scale and complexity of their operations. This is a Board-visible role reporting to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk, positioned at a critical inflection point as the function matures from reactive case handling to systematic program management.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal investigations end-to-end across fraud, misconduct, harassment, safeguarding, and policy violations—managing intake, evidence collection, interviews with complainants, witnesses and subjects, analysis, and formal reporting
• Ensure investigation methodology is rigorous and consistent enough to withstand scrutiny in disciplinary proceedings or legal contexts
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting for senior leadership and Board Audit & Risk Committee audiences
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the whistleblower and grievance programme across multiple markets
• Analyze recurring themes from cases and feed insights back into audit planning processes
• Handle sensitive matters with absolute discretion while managing an independent caseload across different markets and cultural contexts
• Produce findings documentation that maintains integrity and accuracy long after case closure

What We're Looking For

• Degree in a business-related field, law, or criminology required
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential—this is a mandatory requirement
• Extensive hands-on experience conducting internal investigations, ideally within financial services, fintech, or comparable regulated multi-market environments
• Proven track record preparing investigation findings and reports for senior management and Board-level review
• Ability to manage complex, sensitive cases independently with strong judgment and discretion
• Experience working across multiple countries and cultural contexts preferred
• Strong written communication skills for producing documentation that withstands long-term scrutiny
