Full-Stack Engineer Intern (Backend & AI)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a Berlin-based app studio focused on premium digital products. Their current flagship product helps B2B software companies understand how AI systems perceive and recommend their brands across platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI surfaces.

They need a full-stack engineer intern who can architect and build the core backend infrastructure that powers their AI visibility analysis engine. This is not a support role—you would own the central system from day one.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the backend orchestration system that runs prompts across multiple AI platforms and processes structured outputs
• Develop reliable, cost-aware AI workflows with proper data pipelines, scheduling, and storage
• Establish secure, scalable infrastructure including authentication, error handling, and monitoring
• Implement new UI features from design specifications and enhance the existing frontend codebase
• Use AI development tools (Claude Code or similar) to accelerate development while maintaining code ownership
• Make and defend technical decisions that impact the product's core architecture

What We're Looking For

• Strong backend fundamentals: APIs, databases, async jobs, system design
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs or AI workflows (API integrations, structured outputs, multi-step pipelines, evaluations)
• Proficiency with Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, and Vercel
• Experience using AI tools like Claude to accelerate development
• Commitment to security and code quality standards
• Strong written and spoken English
• Currently enrolled in university or vocational training AND meet one of these criteria: (1) completing a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) per your program requirements, or (2) pursuing a voluntary internship alongside studies (maximum 3 months)

This is a full-time internship (30-40 hours per week) based in Berlin with a minimum 2 days per week in-office requirement, though remote arrangements may be possible. Duration is 3-6 months for mandatory internships or maximum 3 months for voluntary internships. Start date is ASAP.

Please note: This internship is unpaid. However, strong performers will have the opportunity to discuss paid long-term roles with real ownership at the completion of the internship.
