Software Engineer, Platform – Lyon, France

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Software Engineer to join their Platform team in Lyon, France. This is a fully remote position within a distributed engineering organization.

In this role, you will design, build, and own critical backend services including payments systems, subscription management, authentication, consumption tracking, and public APIs serving millions of users across multiple platforms. You'll take ownership of existing services and make them faster, more cost-efficient, and more reliable. Your work will require establishing correctness before deployment and implementing automated checks to maintain system integrity over time.

You'll automate repetitive aspects of your responsibilities to create capacity for higher-impact work, turn individual achievements into repeatable processes for the entire team, and design enterprise integrations for B2B customers. Collaboration with product, mobile, and web teams will ensure backend architecture stays ahead of product roadmap requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Proven backend development experience with TypeScript and Node.js (required)
• Direct hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud infrastructure
• Track record of delegating work you previously owned and demonstrating the impact created by that capacity
• Active use of AI agents in your daily workflow with clear boundaries around automated versus reviewed actions
• Instinct to verify results against primary sources (logs, database state, actual requests) rather than summaries
• Sound judgment about what not to build with clear rationale for deferring or rejecting initiatives
• Preference for receiving correction over maintaining positions
• Docker and containerized deployment experience preferred
• High-availability Kubernetes deployment experience preferred
