Data Engineer – Army Vantage / Palantir Foundry – Clearance Required

Overview

Our talent team is representing a federal contractor supporting critical U.S. Army training and information systems. We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with Palantir Foundry and Army Vantage expertise to develop and maintain mission-critical data products for defense applications. This hands-on role requires an active DoD Secret clearance and focuses on building enterprise data pipelines, ontologies, and analytics solutions within secure government environments.

Candidates will work with authoritative Army data sources, transforming complex datasets into reliable, reusable products that support mission analytics and operational decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to apply commercial data engineering practices to high-impact defense missions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot production data pipelines, datasets, and applications within Palantir Foundry and Army Vantage environments
• Build and sustain data transformations using Python, SQL, PySpark, and native Foundry capabilities
• Design and maintain Foundry ontology objects, relationships, and semantic data models for enterprise data accessibility
• Integrate authoritative data sources across Army enterprise systems while maintaining data quality, lineage, and access controls
• Diagnose and resolve end-to-end data quality and integration issues across source systems, interfaces, and downstream products
• Create Foundry-native dashboards, applications, and reports to support analytics, visualization, and mission requirements
• Implement data validation, monitoring, scheduling, error handling, and other production-quality practices
• Apply software engineering best practices including version control, peer review, testing, documentation, and CI/CD
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, architects, and end users to translate mission needs into technical solutions
• Document solutions and build team capability to ensure sustainable operations without single-person dependencies
• Operate independently within Agile teams, taking ownership of technical outcomes and driving problems to resolution

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, or development of production data products
• Hands-on experience developing or maintaining solutions in Palantir Foundry and/or Army Vantage
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation, analysis, and automation
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines with complex or disparate datasets
• Experience with data modeling including schemas, keys, relationships, and transformation into reusable products
• Experience with Foundry ontology, semantic data models, or comparable enterprise data structures
• Proficiency with PySpark, Spark, Pandas, or similar technologies for complex data transformation
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data pipelines, integration issues, and data quality problems across source and downstream systems
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• Active DoD Secret security clearance (required)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct experience developing data products within Army Vantage
• Experience with DoD/Army authoritative data sources and enterprise data governance requirements
• Experience developing Foundry applications, dashboards, reports, or custom interfaces
• Experience applying Git/version control, peer review, automated testing, and CI/CD to data products
• Familiarity with APIs, cloud data services, and enterprise system integration
• Experience in Agile or SAFe Agile Release Train (ART) environments
• DoD 8140 cybersecurity/workforce qualifications where applicable
• Prior support of Army, DoD, federal, or other secure/regulated mission systems

Pay

The target compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000 annually, determined by factors including location, experience, skills, security clearances, and client requirements.
