Lead Strategic Financial Analyst

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Lead Strategic Financial Analyst to join their Finance team in Canada. Reporting to senior finance leadership, you'll tackle complex, cross-functional business questions that require curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity. This role offers exposure to multiple business models, revenue streams, and strategic priorities as you work across different areas of the business.

Note: This position requires availability to work within EST/EDT hours.

Responsibilities

• Take on complex, open-ended questions spanning multiple business areas and bring structure to ambiguous challenges
• Analyze how different business units generate revenue, identify key growth drivers, and assess sustainability while connecting individual performance to the broader consolidated picture
• Build financial models and analysis from the ground up to answer strategic questions and support business decisions
• Find, access, and validate data directly using SQL and business intelligence tools when answers aren't readily available
• Improve forecasting processes across the business—both in-year and long-range—by strengthening methodologies, increasing accuracy, and enhancing efficiency
• Own the monthly and quarterly finance rhythm, partnering with business teams on reviews and reporting while maintaining consistent standards
• Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership

What We're Looking For

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous or unowned problems
• Sound financial modeling capabilities, including building driver-based models and three-statement analysis from scratch
• Experience working directly with data, including SQL or equivalent querying tools and business intelligence platforms
• Business curiosity and the ability to dig into numbers until you understand what's really driving them
• Ability to challenge assumptions while building trusted relationships with business partners
• Strong communication skills to make complex analysis clear and actionable for both finance and non-finance audiences
• Experience working in complex businesses with multiple revenue streams or business models
