Team Lead Full-Stack Engineer (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the geospatial analytics sector. They are seeking a Team Lead Full-Stack Engineer to own the architecture and technical roadmap for services that process and render large volumes of satellite and geospatial data. This is a leadership role with approximately 60% hands-on technical contribution, working within a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, data engineers, and ML specialists.

The position is based in Berlin and follows a hybrid work model. You will lead a team of five engineers (actively growing) who build and maintain full-stack applications handling complex geospatial workloads across web, mobile, and backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and coordinate a team of backend, frontend, mobile, and full-stack engineers while maintaining 60% hands-on technical contribution
• Architect and build end-to-end features that handle large volumes of geospatial data with strong attention to UX and design
• Design and build performant API endpoints and backend services for partners and external consumers
• Coordinate closely with product, design, DevOps, ML, and geospatial engineering teams in cross-functional squads
• Shape team workflows and influence engineering practices across the organization
• Guide technical roadmap decisions for core services and underlying architecture

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

• First experience as a team lead with understanding that team and product success takes priority over individual hands-on work
• Strong backend experience with NestJS, Express, or Node.js
• High level of proficiency with TypeScript and React in production environments (Vue or Preact also acceptable—we value deep component model knowledge)
• Experience working in codebases with CI/CD and code review processes; ability to navigate unfamiliar systems
• Active use of AI-assisted coding tools in day-to-day development work

Nice to Have:

• Experience with spec-driven or test-driven development
• Background in web-based geospatial or GIS work
• Familiarity with mobile development, especially React Native
• Eye for design and UX—ability to make small design decisions independently
