Engineering Manager – Verification

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential fintech client in their search for an Engineering Manager to lead their Verification engineering squad. This is a high-impact role in Berlin, overseeing systems that handle identity checks and regulatory compliance across multiple markets. You'll guide a team working on KYC processes and verification infrastructure, bringing technical depth and leadership to a domain that sits at the intersection of engineering excellence and regulatory requirements.

This position calls for someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical credibility, leading modernisation efforts while supporting engineers to deliver reliable, observable systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering squad focused on verification systems, removing bottlenecks and managing cross-team dependencies across legacy and modern infrastructure
• Partner with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to translate complex KYC and KYB requirements into clear engineering outcomes
• Drive technical improvements that reduce legacy overhead, strengthen tooling, and enable sustainable delivery practices
• Shape roadmap priorities in collaboration with Product Management, ensuring compliance requirements and emerging technologies are properly integrated
• Maintain high standards for system observability, failure handling, and reliability across verification flows including AI-driven components
• Develop team members through regular 1:1s, direct feedback, and deliberate growth opportunities

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record leading engineering teams through technical transformation, including large-scale migrations and legacy modernisation
• Strong technical depth in backend technologies, particularly Go, with hands-on experience in API/integration architecture, observability, CI/CD, and testing practices
• Experience with or appetite to learn KYC/KYB regulatory environments and frameworks like eIDAS
• Ability to combine strategic thinking with technical credibility, communicating effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
• Solid people leadership skills with a track record of developing high performers, addressing underperformance fairly, and building inclusive, psychologically safe teams
• Experience working in complex, multi-market environments with cross-functional stakeholders
