Position Overview

Our talent team is representing a confidential client in the design software industry. They are building their technical sales capacity around a cloud-based electronics design platform that unifies PCB layout and mechanical design workflows. Hardware teams evaluating modern ECAD tools—often for the first time—are moving away from disconnected legacy systems, and our client is capturing that shift through both direct engagement and a growing partner ecosystem.

As a Technical Sales Specialist focused on electronics, you will own the technical strategy behind opportunities and help develop the business-development engine that drives them. This is a builder's role: you will shape territory plans, recruit and enable channel partners, run deep discovery, deliver high-impact proofs of value, and remove obstacles to close. You will not wait for inbound demos—you will create pipeline, win competitive displacements, and expand footprint across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical sales cycle end to end: discovery, requirements validation, solution design, proof of value, objection handling, and technical close
  • Conduct deep discovery into customers' current ECAD tools, libraries, and ECAD-MCAD handoffs, then map a credible path to the client's unified platform
  • Scope and deliver precise, high-impact demos across the full electronics workflow: schematic capture, PCB layout, library and component management, design-rule checking, simulation, ECAD-MCAD co-design, and path to manufacturing
  • Lead evaluations, pilots, and migration assessments, including plans for moving competitor designs, libraries, and standards onto the new platform
  • Address technical objections with authority—board complexity, layer counts, design rules, interoperability, file formats, and integration with PLM and data systems
  • Build trust as an advisor from engineers to executives, grounded in real electronics and product-development experience
  • Generate and grow pipeline through direct and partner motions: recruit, enable, and co-sell with channel partners and ecosystem players (including supply-chain partners); own a territory plan targeting competitive displacements and greenfield teams
  • Expand market presence through evangelism: webinars, workshops, trade shows, user groups, and content campaigns
  • Cross-sell into adjacent capabilities: mechanical design, simulation, CAM, data management, and PLM

What We're Looking For

  • Deep experience in electronics design and PCB development: schematic capture, board layout, library and component management, design rules, and path to fabrication and assembly (Gerber, BOM, manufacturing outputs)
  • Hands-on fluency across ECAD/EDA tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, Siemens, KiCad, or similar platforms
  • Working grasp of ECAD-MCAD co-design and how electronics and mechanical workflows connect, including fit, form, and function validation
  • Direct experience in a technical sales role: presales, solution consulting, or sales engineering, with strong discovery skills and the ability to deconstruct and re-architect cross-functional engineering processes
  • Outstanding presentation and demonstration skills for technical, business, and executive audiences; ability to simplify complexity and link technology decisions to outcomes like faster launches, fewer re-spins, and lower cost
  • Comfort creating opportunities through both direct and partner motions (prospecting, territory development, evangelism, co-selling); experience recruiting and enabling channel partners and resellers
  • High energy, resilience, and ability to operate at pace inside a scaling organization
