About This Role
We are representing a fast-growing aerospace technology client seeking a Senior PCB Designer II to join their Cambridge, UK engineering team. Our client develops advanced communication systems for satellite, UAV, and launch vehicle applications. This is a hands-on position where you will own complex PCB layouts for cutting-edge power, digital, and RF electronics in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
In this role, you will perform PCB layout and library management for state-of-the-art aerospace electronics, working with high-frequency RF (up to 30 GHz), power systems, and digital circuitry on high-density boards. You will collaborate closely with hardware and mechanical engineers using industry-leading tools and contribute to critical design functions that are central to our client's mission.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex mixed-signal PCB layout in Altium Designer, collaborating with engineering staff on intricate designs featuring high-frequency RF, power, and digital components
- Own challenging layouts with high density, complex stackups, and advanced manufacturing techniques including blind vias and microvias
- Generate and revise technical drawings and release packages for PCBs and assemblies
- Manage and maintain electronic component libraries in Altium Enterprise
- Create and review schematic symbols and footprints to support design workflows
- Maintain templates for schematics, layouts, bills-of-materials, and related documentation
- Multitask between PCB layout, library management, schematic capture, and design review activities
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar discipline
- 7+ years of professional experience as a PCB Designer
- Strong proficiency with Altium Designer
- Solid understanding of PCB layout technical principles and best practices
- Experience with high-reliability, aerospace, and/or IPC Class 3 designs
- Experience with advanced PCB manufacturing techniques such as blind vias and microvias
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort with collaboration tools including MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when coordinating with hardware and mechanical engineering teams
Preferred:
- Experience managing electronic component libraries
- Familiarity with PLM systems such as Arena
