Head of Data & AI – Customer & Omnicommerce Unit (f/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail organization seeking a Head of Data & AI to drive enterprise-wide transformation. Reporting to senior leadership, you will orchestrate the shift to an AI-powered operating model by combining strategic vision, data governance, and hands-on execution.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Data Strategy & Architecture: Design and scale a federated semantic layer across all business domains to establish a single source of truth. Lead vendor selection, RFPs, and platform migrations for behavioral analytics and consent management tools. Decommission legacy BI environments to fund modern data products.
• AI & Business Partnership: Deploy next-generation AI capabilities including hyper-contextual search, recommendation engines, algorithmic ranking, and personalization at scale. Serve as the strategic bridge between business units, central data teams, and product organizations. Represent Data & AI in global business performance steering.
• Governance & Compliance: Establish objective data governance frameworks, own consent management and privacy tracking, and achieve 100% compliance with global maturity standards.
• Team Leadership: Restructure and lead cross-functional teams spanning analytics, governance, and privacy. Drive organizational change, mentor high-performing talent, and execute geographic hub strategies.
• Operational Excellence: Simplify the data ecosystem by eliminating over 50% of legacy dashboards. Enable self-service analytics for tens of thousands of users through conversational AI tools.

What We're Looking For

• Technical Expertise: Deep domain knowledge in data analytics, machine learning, and generative AI frameworks. Hands-on understanding of modern data stacks such as Databricks, dbt, and core data mart modeling.
• Strategic Leadership: Proven track record leading large-scale, multi-million-dollar technology transformations. Experience executing complex RFPs, vendor negotiations, and technical audits.
• Executive Communication: Ability to translate complex technical concepts for C-level audiences and challenge the status quo to drive measurable ROI.
• Organizational Impact: Experience restructuring teams, leading change management initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Location: Based in Lille or Paris, France. Hybrid work model with 2 days remote per week.
