Machine Learning Fellow – Human Frontier Collective (UK)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking Machine Learning Fellows to join an interdisciplinary expert network focused on advancing frontier AI systems. This fully remote fellowship offers PhD-level researchers and senior ML practitioners the opportunity to collaborate on high-impact projects, co-author research publications, and connect with domain leaders across 70+ fields.

Responsibilities

• Participate in selected AI and machine learning projects including model evaluation, safety guardrails, and deep learning workflow optimization
• Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models for real-world applications
• Evaluate complex ML code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness
• Collaborate on building AI safety and policy frameworks
• Design experiments and build reinforcement learning environments as needed
• Co-author technical reports and research papers with the organization's research team
• Engage with an exclusive network of experts through newsletters, discussion channels, and events

What We're Looking For

• PhD or postdoctoral research experience in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field; or senior industry experience in Machine Learning
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks including PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), MLOps tools (Docker), and LLM frameworks (LangChain) is a plus
• Detail-oriented mindset with passion for applied AI research
• Commitment to collaboration and innovative thinking
• Must have independent work authorization in the UK (visa sponsorship not available)
• Flexible availability for 10–25 hours per week on a self-set schedule
