Software Engineer (Intern)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology company in London that is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for a short-term placement. This is a hands-on role designed for students or recent graduates who demonstrate exceptional intelligence, motivation, and work ethic. You will tackle real engineering problems alongside senior engineers who will mentor and challenge you throughout your placement.

This is not a shadowing role. You will contribute meaningfully from day one, working on shipped product features with dedicated mentorship. AI-assisted development is central to how this team builds, and you will use modern AI coding tools daily while also contributing to AI-powered product features.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver well-scoped features end-to-end across a TypeScript/Node.js stack with mentor support
• Contribute to real, shipped product work that goes live to users
• Build AI-powered features including automated systems, content generation, personalization, and moderation tools
• Leverage AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development work
• Experiment with LLMs, embeddings, and vector databases as part of product development
• Ship fast, iterate based on feedback, and learn from production environments
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and senior engineering teams
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making processes
• Present your work and learnings at the end of the placement

What We're Looking For

• Currently studying towards or recently completed a Computer Science degree or related field (or equivalent demonstrated through personal projects, open source contributions, or bootcamps)
• Exceptionally intelligent and motivated with ability to learn fast and apply knowledge immediately
• High agency mindset - you identify problems and solve them rather than waiting for direction
• Solid fundamentals in software engineering including data structures, algorithms, and basic system design
• Proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript, or strong general programming foundation to get there quickly
• Experience with Node.js, React, or Next.js is a plus
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants or eager to become fluent with these tools
• Curious about LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI product development
• Genuinely excited by challenging technical problems
• Relentless work ethic with focus on shipping, iterating, and continuous improvement
• Humble and coachable with active approach to seeking and acting on feedback
• No professional experience required
