Senior Forward Deployed Engineering – Architect

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential data platform organization seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering - Architect for a hybrid position based in London. In this hands-on, customer-facing role, you will:

• Lead impactful technical projects by delivering production-grade systems, designing reference architectures, and building custom applications with data ingestion and ML/AI model integration
• Guide strategic customers through transformational big data projects, including end-to-end design, build, and deployment of advanced data and AI applications
• Work with engagement managers to scope technical delivery work based on customer input and requirements
• Own architecture and design decisions, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with both customer needs and industry best practices
• Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and customer stakeholders to ensure engagement components are delivered successfully
• Embed with customer teams, engaging with stakeholders from technical individual contributors to executives to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact
• Contribute reusable accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale impact across accounts
• Provide product and implementation feedback to support rapid resolution of engagement-specific issues
• Travel to customer sites approximately 20% of the time

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in data engineering, data platforms and analytics, or software engineering
• Strong coding skills in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of two or more common cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs
• Proven experience designing and deploying performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces
• Experience with technical project delivery, including managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes
• Strong documentation and whiteboarding skills
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range
• Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies
• Relevant platform certifications preferred but not essential
