Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential hosting and cloud services provider in Essen, Germany, seeking a Product Engineer to reimagine and build their domain management platform from the ground up.

You will:

  • Design, develop, and operate a new customer portal and associated backend services alongside your team
  • Take ownership of evolving APIs and self-service offerings for customers and internal teams
  • Build resilient, performant, and secure systems using modern frontend and backend technologies
  • Integrate external service providers and suppliers via APIs, including payment service providers for automated billing
  • Leverage AI-assisted development methods and agentic coding approaches to streamline development and testing processes
  • Collaborate closely with customers, stakeholders, and your team to understand requirements and translate them into sustainable technical solutions
  • Actively shape new development and review processes and contribute ideas to evolve the engineering culture
  • Manage the complete software lifecycle—from concept and development through deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimization

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience developing modern software solutions
  • Strong expertise in designing, developing, and operating frontend and backend systems
  • Proficiency with Node.js or comparable backend technologies
  • Deep understanding of microservice architectures, REST APIs, security concepts, and multi-tenancy
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, container technologies, and modern deployment processes
  • Interest in or hands-on experience with AI-based agentic software development and AI-assisted testing (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools)
  • Track record collaborating with stakeholders and end users
  • Independent working style, high initiative, and enthusiasm for taking ownership
  • Fluent German and strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
