AI Transformation Lead (m/w/d) – 80% Remote – Hamburg, Köln, Frankfurt oder München

Responsibilities

We are representing a PE-backed European enterprise group in their search for an AI Transformation Lead to drive end-to-end AI adoption across a complete business division.

You will own the full lifecycle of AI initiatives within your assigned division—from identifying and prioritizing use cases through stakeholder coordination to production deployment and organizational adoption. This means regularly traveling to operational sites, engaging with local leadership, understanding their workflows, and driving transformation from the ground up.

Your work includes mapping existing business processes, challenging them critically, and redesigning them with AI—not just for efficiency, but for fundamental reimagining. You'll serve as the strategic AI partner to division managers and department heads, becoming their primary contact for AI transformation and ensuring solutions take root in daily operations.

You'll coordinate forward-deployed AI engineers who build the use cases you prioritize, ensuring technical solutions actually land in real-world practice. Beyond your division, you'll actively shape the group-wide AI strategy, feeding lessons from your area into the central roadmap.

This is a greenfield build. Structures, standards, and governance are emerging now. If you need established processes, this isn't the role. If you want to create them, it is.

What We're Looking For

Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent qualification, plus 4–6 years in transformation, management consulting, project management, or startup environments.

Project Leadership: Proven track record steering complex, multi-stakeholder projects. You know how to balance competing interests without losing sight of outcomes.

Process Analysis and Design: You can systematically capture, evaluate, and redesign processes, translating findings into prioritized, actionable roadmaps.

Technical Fluency: Comfort navigating LLMs, APIs, and modern AI architectures—enough to collaborate on equal footing with AI engineers without needing to code yourself. Ideally, you can stand up a quick MVP when speed matters.

Entrepreneurial Mindset and Communication: You communicate confidently at all levels up to C-suite and think in results, not responsibilities.

Languages: Native-level German and business-fluent English for international units, investors, and external partners.

What Else Shapes This Role: You'll lead through influence, not authority—guiding engineers, external partners, and virtual project teams toward shared goals without direct reports. Credibility is built through business cases and on-site presence. Expect regular travel, especially early on. Resistance is managed through data and dialogue; where adoption stalls, you pivot to the next location with Group Management Board backing when needed.

Compensation details including base salary, variable component (approximately 15–20%), and benefits package will be discussed during the screening process based on experience and qualifications.
