About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential observability platform company seeking a Developer Advocate focused on service management. This role combines deep technical expertise with content creation and community engagement to help engineering teams solve real operational challenges around incident response, on-call management, and workflow automation.
You'll translate hands-on engineering experience into compelling stories, demos, and educational content that reaches SRE, DevOps, and operations practitioners worldwide. This is a remote-first position open to candidates anywhere in the world.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on service management topics including incident response, on-call practices, internal developer platforms, workflow automation, and operational tooling
- Create diverse technical content such as demos, conference talks, blog posts, documentation, webinars, and open source contributions to establish thought leadership in the DevOps and observability space
- Build compelling demonstrations and coach internal engineering teams on effective technical communication and presentation skills
- Engage with open source communities to drive key technical messaging and develop new integrations
- Contribute product feedback including bug reports, enhancement suggestions, documentation improvements, and code contributions
- Partner with product engineering teams to showcase platform capabilities and real-world use cases
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- 5+ years as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Developer with hands-on production system ownership
- Direct experience as an on-call responder and incident manager in complex IT environments
- Strong understanding of core service management practices: incident response, on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and SLOs
- Familiarity with incident management and service management tooling ecosystems
- 2+ years creating technical content through writing, conference speaking, workshops, video content, open source contributions, or community events
- Publicly available portfolio: blog posts, presentation recordings, demos, or technical writing samples
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, bash)
- Experience working with APIs and modern infrastructure including cloud services and containers
- Passion for solving organizational challenges alongside technical ones
- Self-driven approach to learning new technologies and languages
Bonus Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with ITSM platforms
- Active participation in SRE, DevOps, or incident response communities
