About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud technology organization seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their distributed engineering team. This is a remote, full-time opportunity available across the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel, with contractor arrangements also considered in Eastern Europe and Portugal.

Our client operates at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and developer productivity, building sophisticated platform solutions that enable engineering teams to deliver rapidly and reliably across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Platform Development: Architect, design, and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, treating infrastructure as a sophisticated software system with comprehensive lifecycle management, reusable modules, and robust testing strategies.
• Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS), including node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, and ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
• CI/CD Systems: Develop and refine internal software delivery pipelines using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis, applying advanced programming concepts to automate build and release processes while optimizing performance.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve platform-related issues including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities through advanced troubleshooting techniques and root cause analysis.
• Automation: Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual operational tasks, reduce human error, and improve system reliability through scripts, tools, and workflows.
• Developer Partnership: Act as a strategic partner to development teams, understanding their infrastructure needs and translating requirements into actionable platform features and roadmaps.
• Internal Tools: Drive development of internal platform products and services through the full software development lifecycle to enhance functionality and developer productivity.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices including access control, vulnerability management, and data encryption while ensuring compliance with SOC 2, GDPR, and other relevant standards.
• Collaboration: Function as an individual contributor, actively collaborating through code reviews, mentorship, and technical guidance to maintain unified platform direction.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 6+ years in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related roles with a strong track record building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure.
• Core Technologies: Strong hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform in production environments.
• Coding Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Go or TypeScript (or other relevant languages) with solid software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.
• CI/CD Expertise: Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies with deep understanding of CI/CD principles and best practices.
• Infrastructure Excellence: Demonstrated expertise building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure with a focus on automation and efficiency.
• Monitoring & Observability: Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
• Networking: Understanding of networking concepts and protocols in cloud environments.
• Security Knowledge: Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments and compliance frameworks.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Work Style: Self-organized, goal-oriented, and self-motivated with proven ability to work effectively in remote and distributed team environments.
• Platform Focus: Prior experience working specifically on platform engineering projects treating infrastructure as a product.
