Phlebotomist – Hickman Hospital

About This Position

As a Phlebotomist at Hickman Hospital, you'll be an essential member of our diagnostic team, responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients across multiple departments. You'll work in a dynamic healthcare setting where attention to detail, patient care, and technical accuracy drive everything you do. This is a hands-on role that requires both precision and compassion as you interact with patients during a critical step in their diagnostic journey.

Core Duties

• Collect blood samples from patients using appropriate venipuncture and capillary techniques
• Properly label, handle, and process laboratory specimens according to established protocols
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure specimens are routed correctly for testing
• Follow strict infection control and safety procedures to protect patients and yourself
• Prepare patients for blood draws and respond professionally to patient questions and concerns
• Monitor collection equipment and report any malfunctions to supervisory staff
• Work efficiently across inpatient units, outpatient areas, and the laboratory as needed

What You Bring

• Current phlebotomy certification (or the ability to obtain one)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and laboratory safety standards
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-volume healthcare environment
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle collection equipment
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
