HPC Network Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology infrastructure organization seeking an HPC Network Engineer based in Germany. This is an excellent opportunity for networking professionals looking to specialize in high-performance computing environments and InfiniBand technologies.

We are seeking engineers with solid networking fundamentals who want to grow their expertise in HPC/AI infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced engineers while developing specialized skills in InfiniBand fabrics, network security, and large-scale cluster environments.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of InfiniBand and Ethernet network infrastructure
• Troubleshoot network issues including connectivity, latency, and performance degradation
• Monitor network health and performance, identifying bottlenecks and optimization opportunities
• Work with InfiniBand technologies such as switches, HCAs, and subnet managers
• Support management and troubleshooting of firewall solutions including VPNs and security rules
• Implement network configurations, routing, and segmentation
• Collaborate with compute and storage teams supporting HPC and AI workloads
• Participate in incident response and operational support activities
• Document network configurations and procedures
• Learn and adopt automation tools and practices including scripting and configuration management

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 2–4 years of experience in networking, system engineering, or infrastructure roles
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs)
• Proficiency with Linux systems and command-line tools
• Experience in data center networking or distributed systems environments
• Genuine interest in developing expertise in InfiniBand and HPC networking

Preferred qualifications:

• Exposure to InfiniBand or high-performance networking concepts
• Familiarity with enterprise firewall technologies
• Basic scripting skills in Bash or Python
• Experience with monitoring tools and systematic troubleshooting methodologies
