Geospatial Data Analyst (f/m/x) in the field of AI & Satellite Data

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential satellite analytics organization in Berlin that is seeking a Geospatial Data Analyst to join their operations team on a fixed-term contract (1 year maternity cover). This role sits at the intersection of geospatial data, AI-driven analytics, and critical infrastructure monitoring.

You'll work with satellite imagery and geospatial datasets to ensure analytics projects are delivered with accuracy and reliability. This position requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and product teams to investigate data issues, validate outputs, and continuously improve analytics pipelines used across energy and transportation infrastructure projects globally.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, validate, and interpret geospatial and satellite data across global customer projects
• Take ownership of analytics deliveries and ensure high technical quality and reliability
• Investigate data and pipeline issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings clearly to engineering teams
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, and operations support to resolve issues and maintain delivery schedules
• Develop end-to-end understanding of analytics pipelines and identify opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements
• Provide structured feedback to product and engineering teams on recurring issues or improvement opportunities
• Use AI coding and analysis tools for data validation, pipeline debugging, and analysis while critically validating outputs
• Work with QGIS, Python, SQL, AWS, remote sensing tools, and large-scale geospatial datasets
• Adapt to different analytics use cases across energy and transportation infrastructure sectors

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Degree in geoinformatics, remote sensing, geography, computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, or another quantitative/technical field
• Hands-on experience working with geospatial data and GIS tools, ideally QGIS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to investigate complex data or technical issues in a structured way
• High level of ownership and self-management - proactively moves problems toward resolution
• Comfortable using AI coding and analysis tools as part of daily work while applying critical judgment to verify results
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities and customer requirements can change
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Collaborative working style with ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Python and SQL
• Remote sensing / Earth Observation experience
• Experience with geodatabases and large-scale data management
• AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience
• Machine learning or deep learning knowledge
• Software engineering experience
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect
