Senior Legal Counsel – Privacy

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential iGaming organization seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in privacy law. This is a strategic role within a growing Privacy team, responsible for protecting personal data across multiple brands and markets. Based in Leeds with hybrid flexibility, you'll lead critical data protection initiatives and serve as a Data Protection Officer for designated entities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations across assigned entities, brands, and markets
• Serve as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for designated entities, fulfilling all statutory duties under relevant data protection legislation
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other DPOs to maintain a cohesive privacy framework
• Conduct comprehensive data protection due diligence on business partners
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex data protection agreements, clauses, and terms
• Develop and update privacy policies, privacy notices, cookie policies, and internal procedures
• Provide expert legal guidance on data protection matters to business units, senior management, and project teams
• Lead privacy workstreams in major projects, including M&A activities, ensuring privacy by design principles
• Manage data subjects' rights requests and customer complaints related to data protection
• Liaise with data protection supervisory authorities regarding complaints, inquiries, audits, and regulatory matters
• Handle data breach incidents and ensure timely regulatory reporting
• Conduct and advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy audits
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the Privacy team

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Recognized legal qualification demonstrating strong foundation in legal principles
• Minimum 4-6 years of progressive experience in a dedicated privacy legal role, preferably in a multinational environment
• Deep expertise in GDPR and other global data protection laws
• Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex data protection agreements
• Demonstrated ability to act as DPO or hold similar lead privacy advisory role
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience within iGaming, financial services, or technology sectors
• Relevant privacy certifications
