SecOps Security Engineer (Staff-level, L6)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential AI platform organization in their search for a Staff-level Security Engineer to join their Security Operations team. In this role, you will report to the Head of Security and drive deeply technical security improvements across the organization's infrastructure.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Build and own security enhancements across cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines), shipping production changes directly when needed
• Design, implement, and continuously improve detection and response capabilities including SIEM, EDR/MDR, cloud-native detections, and CNAPP solutions with a focus on automation and measurable results
• Conduct end-to-end security incident response—from initial triage through containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis—while developing tooling and detection logic to prevent future occurrences
• Develop internal security automation and tooling using infrastructure-as-code, scripts, and integrations that reduce manual work and elevate security standards by default

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a deeply technical security engineer with a builder mindset who can move from concept to production and is comfortable implementing changes directly in cloud infrastructure and DevOps systems.

Required experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience, preferably in cloud-first SaaS environments
• Background working in fast-growing startup, scale-up, or SaaS companies
• Cloud security engineering expertise in AWS and/or GCP with hands-on implementation capability (IAM, networking, compute, storage, logging)
• Kubernetes security experience including cluster hardening, workload isolation, runtime security, and policy controls
• Strong DevOps fundamentals: CI/CD security, secrets management, artifact integrity, and secure-by-default platform patterns
• Proven incident response and investigation skills, including developing repeatable playbooks and automating response processes
• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python or similar) and proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
• Experience with agent-based security coding, ideally at the cutting edge of the field
• Hands-on experience with endpoint security tooling such as CrowdStrike

Bonus qualifications:

• Direct experience with security platforms such as Hunters, Wiz, Falcon, Tracebit, Torii, Okta, Google Workspace, StrongDM, Github, StepSecurity, or similar tools
• Relevant security certifications including AWS Certified Security, GIAC GWEB, OSCP, or CSSLP
