Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager. This is a high-ownership role for an accounting professional who treats finance operations like engineering problems—someone who owns the fundamentals while building AI-powered automations that make accounting more accurate, efficient, and scalable.

You'll be responsible for month-end close, accounts payable, reconciliations, and audit readiness, but your real impact will come from identifying manual bottlenecks and designing practical solutions that improve how finance works. This role is ideal for someone with deep SaaS experience who takes pride in both getting the numbers right and making the process better.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules
• Manage accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and corporate card programs with accurate coding and timely accruals
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting documentation
• Partner with finance leadership to continuously improve and automate the month-end close by identifying inefficiencies and designing AI-powered workflows
• Evaluate emerging AI, automation, and finance technology solutions; recommend improvements and lead implementation
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify automation opportunities, connect systems, and eliminate manual processes
• Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc analysis as needed
• Support audit readiness by preparing schedules, maintaining documentation, and coordinating auditor requests
• Take ownership of special projects that improve finance operations

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership in a dynamic SaaS or software startup environment
• Strong foundation in accounting fundamentals with exceptional attention to detail
• Proven experience using AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) in your current role and comfort learning new automation tools quickly (like n8n or Zapier)
• A finance engineer's mindset: you build scalable processes that reduce manual work and increase accuracy
• Strong judgment about which activities should be automated and which require human review
• Experience leading or supporting financial audits
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar GL/ERP systems
• Experience managing AP, expense, or corporate card programs (such as Ramp) preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is a plus but not required
