Senior Developer – Data Products

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential news technology organization seeking a senior developer to join their data products team in Czechia. This is a full-time remote contractor position working with large-scale news data, backend services, and API development.

You will contribute to building and improving data-driven products for news discovery, media transparency, and monitoring. The role combines hands-on development with solution design, working across data processing, backend services, APIs, and production delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve backend services, APIs, data workflows, and internal tools
• Turn data, research, and analytical outputs into useful product functionality
• Contribute to solution architecture, data models, integrations, and technology choices
• Evaluate available approaches and develop prototypes for new product capabilities
• Improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of new and existing solutions
• Collaborate with data scientists, developers, product and UX colleagues, and external partners

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level experience delivering software, data products, or technical solutions in production environments
• Practical experience with backend development, APIs, and data processing using Python or TypeScript
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL
• Experience deploying and maintaining solutions in cloud or Linux environments
• Sound technical judgment, ownership, and ability to take solutions from initial design to production
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in English within an international remote team
• Experience with machine learning, NLP, LLM integrations, frontend development, data visualization, or DevOps is advantageous but not required

Technical Environment: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs, AWS, Linux. You may also work with Ruby, MySQL/Aurora, Redis, Docker, and BigQuery. Strong technical foundations and ability to learn are valued over experience with every specific technology.

Work Arrangement: 100% remote, full-time contractor engagement with flexibility in organizing your hours and reliable availability throughout the working week.
