About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source database platform company seeking a Support Engineer to join their globally distributed technical support organization. This is a weekend-focused shift role serving developers across the Americas.
You'll provide expert-level support to a technical community building applications on a modern Postgres-based development platform. The role requires deep SQL knowledge, strong troubleshooting skills, and excellent communication with developer audiences.
Responsibilities
- Provide initial and timely responses to support cases covering billing, pre-sales, optimization, and implementation questions
- Triage incoming requests by directing users to documentation, code examples, previous solutions, or escalating to specialized technical teams
- Monitor multiple feedback channels including GitHub Issues and Discussions
- Identify opportunities for internal tooling to improve support efficiency
- Reproduce reported issues, create test cases, and contribute to improved test coverage where appropriate
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience providing developer support to technical customers
- Proficiency in SQL, ideally PostgreSQL—you should be comfortable with complex queries and database troubleshooting
- Database administration experience is a strong plus
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
- Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command line tools
- Experience working with GitHub Issues and Discussions
- Bonus: Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte) and Node.js
- Computer Science degree is a plus
Schedule Requirements: This is a full-time position with four 10-hour shifts permanently covering weekends (Friday through Monday) during 16:00–02:00 UTC. We're specifically seeking candidates in North or South American timezones for this shift pattern.
