Interim Controller (gn) SaaS / Grafana

About This Engagement

We are representing a confidential logistics organization in Hamburg that is professionalizing their group-wide controlling and reporting infrastructure. This interim project offers significant autonomy and direct collaboration with executive leadership and internal IT teams to build a unified business intelligence solution across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a unified controlling and reporting framework across multiple legal entities
• Consolidate existing data from DATEV, Excel, and proprietary platforms into a coherent structure
• Conceptualize and develop a central dashboard using Grafana
• Define relevant KPIs, reporting logic, and data architecture
• Create clear functional specifications for technical implementation by the internal IT team
• Align and harmonize existing controlling processes across the group
• Ensure consistent data foundation for management and financial reporting
• Support implementation through to a fully operational reporting setup

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in controlling, finance, or group reporting
• Proven track record building or advancing group-wide controlling structures
• Hands-on experience with BI tools, reporting systems, and data consolidation
• Experience with Grafana is a strong plus
• Background in SaaS, platform, or logistics environments ideal
• DATEV knowledge advantageous
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Ability to structure functional requirements clearly for IT teams
• Hands-on mentality and independent working style
• Fluent German and good English language skills

Engagement Details

• Freelance interim mandate
• Workload: approximately 20 hours per week
• Project start: September 21 or 28, 2026, or early October
• Initial duration: approximately 4–6 weeks
• Objective: complete central controlling setup by Christmas
• Location: Hamburg with initial on-site meetings to understand team and systems landscape, followed by predominantly remote work
• Direct interaction with executive leadership and internal IT
• Substantial creative freedom with clearly defined project mandate
