Engineering Lead – B2B Integrations Team (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking an Engineering Lead for their B2B Integrations team in Berlin. In this role, you will:

• Own the full end-to-end delivery cycle, from requirements analysis and effort estimation through design, implementation, QA, delivery, and ongoing support
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code across the tech stack—primarily Java and Python for backend development—while adhering to software development best practices
• Implement new features and maintain existing codebases to ensure high performance and availability
• Foster an inspiring environment with open communication and a culture of trust within your team
• Proactively resolve impediments and mitigate risks, escalating delivery and team challenges in a timely manner with well-articulated solutions
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads to facilitate strategy and planning
• Drive the OKR process for your team, including communication of objectives, key result definition, team commitment, and alignment with individual target agreements
• Recruit, hire, and onboard engineers into the team
• Develop your engineers' technical and soft skills according to organizational goals and needs
• Create individual development plans with every team member aligned to team goals
• Provide coaching, recognize high performance, and address low performance promptly
• Establish and maintain strong performance standards for your direct reports

What We're Looking For

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum 2 years of leadership and people management experience in a remote setup with a strong focus on delivery
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a Backend Software Engineer, with the desire to remain a main technical contributor
• Hands-on experience with technical platform transitions within a company
• Proven ability to manage software projects to successful delivery in a collaborative fashion
• Up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle in modern backend technologies
• Comfort with open code and architecture discussions
• Experience with AWS Services, Kubernetes, and Event-Driven architectures
• Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus but not mandatory
• Strong communication skills
