Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential insurance technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Belfast team. In this role, you will be at the heart of designing and delivering a public-facing platform and the sophisticated supporting tools that power it. You will work within a highly capable, motivated team in a fast-moving, Agile, data-driven environment where testing and continuous improvement are fundamental.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and delivering high-impact features for the main public-facing marketplace and internal toolsets
- Driving innovation in UX and implementing advanced AI patterns including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enhance platform intelligence
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers within the team and broader organization
- Pioneering agentic workflows within the software development lifecycle, leveraging tools like Anthropic Claude to boost developer productivity
- Utilizing analytics data aggregation to create feedback loops for continuous system and process improvement
- Proactively engaging with cross-functional stakeholders including Product Managers and Architecture teams
What We're Looking For
Essential qualifications:
- A third-level degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional programming experience, including experience at a software product company
- Experience supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS)
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and container orchestration environments, preferably Kubernetes
- Experience with observability platforms
- Hands-on back-end development experience
- Proficiency in TypeScript
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools
Desirable qualifications:
- Security-first approach with strong focus on secure delivery of application software and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in deploying infrastructure as code
- UI development experience with frameworks such as React
- Deep experience with AWS cloud-native services
- Track record of engineering systems and applications at scale
- Experience with serverless architectures and microservice-based architecture
