Controller / Senior Controller (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential media organization in Berlin seeking a Controller / Senior Controller to strengthen their finance function with data-driven insights, robust KPIs, and clear recommendations for decision-making.

This role goes beyond traditional reporting. You'll take ownership of analysis, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive meaningful change across the organization. The position balances strategic planning with hands-on operational work, requiring initiative, pragmatism, and a proactive mindset.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles
• Conducting variance analysis and performance evaluations
• Independently identifying, gathering, and preparing relevant data and metrics in close collaboration with business units
• Creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and management presentations
• Analyzing revenue, cost, and performance indicators
• Providing executive leadership with ad-hoc analyses and business evaluations
• Participating in cross-functional projects focused on digitalization and automation of finance and controlling processes
• Working closely with Finance, HR, Sales, and Marketing teams

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Controlling, Economics, or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, finance, accounting, or similar environments
• Structured and meticulous approach with confidence handling complex data and situations
• Genuine interest in understanding business relationships and supporting data-driven decisions
• Advanced Excel skills plus interest in BI tools, automation, and data-driven processes
• Curiosity, willingness to learn, and motivation for professional and personal development
• Initiative and readiness to take ownership of projects
• Strong team orientation with a pragmatic, solution-focused working style
• Excellent German language skills, written and spoken (minimum C1 level)
