About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential AI research organization seeking Competitive Programming Experts for a freelance AI training project based in Japan. This is a project-based engagement focused on building high-quality algorithmic problems and automated grading systems that train advanced AI coding models.
You will create original competitive programming problems, write both correct and intentionally flawed solutions, and design rigorous test cases that validate AI-generated code. Your expertise ensures the training data meets the highest standards of correctness and difficulty.
Responsibilities
- Design original algorithmic problems with clear statements, sound constraints, and intended solutions
- Implement correct reference solutions in C++ and Python
- Write realistic incorrect solutions that represent common implementation mistakes
- Build comprehensive test suites including generators, edge cases, stress tests, and adversarial inputs
- Develop checkers and interactors using testlib for problems with multiple valid answers
- Verify quality: correct solutions pass all tests, incorrect solutions fail appropriately, all within time limits
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Demonstrated competitive programming background with public profile (Codeforces handle with current/peak rating, or IOI/ICPC/national olympiad record)
- Fluency in competitive programming C++ (STL, complexity analysis)
- Comfortable writing Python solutions
- Ability to identify why solutions fail and construct counter-examples
- Strong written English (C1+ level)
Experience Levels (by Codeforces rating or equivalent):
- Associate (1700–2100): Expert / Candidate Master level — easier problem sets
- Expert (2200–2600): Master / Grandmaster level — harder problem sets
- Senior / Reviewer (2600+): International Grandmaster or IOI/ICPC medalist — most difficult problems plus quality review
Preferred:
- IOI or ICPC medal/participation
- Experience setting or testing problems for competitive programming contests (online judges, national olympiads)
- Testlib experience (checkers, validators, generators)
- Background creating evaluation datasets for code benchmarks or machine learning systems
Project Time Commitment: Tasks require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active project phases. This is an estimate; actual workload varies by project status. All tasks must meet acceptance criteria and submission deadlines.
