Legal / Compliance Consultant – Trade Compliance, Export Control (Remote Working)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential organization with significant operations across the Asia-Pacific region. Our client requires specialized legal and compliance expertise to strengthen their trade compliance framework, particularly around export controls and regulatory interpretation across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a remote role based in Hong Kong, offering the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders across Greater China and the broader APAC region on high-impact compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support on global trade compliance matters with emphasis on export controls, product classification (ECCN), licensing requirements, and permitting processes
• Analyze and interpret complex trade regulations and translate them into practical guidance for business operations across the Asia-Pacific region
• Support the implementation and regionalization of global trade compliance programs, including restricted party screening, customer due diligence, and end-use/end-user reviews
• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to trade compliance personnel across Greater China and APAC markets
• Engage with senior stakeholders on cross-border compliance projects and support strategic decision-making

What We're Looking For

• 4-12+ years of experience in global or regional trade compliance and export controls
• Strong working knowledge of Hong Kong and China/APAC trade regulations
• Proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business guidance
• Fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
• Strong analytical and communication skills suitable for engaging with senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated track record of building and regionalizing trade compliance programs
• Supervisory or team leadership experience
• Ability to lead cross-border compliance projects in a dynamic business environment
