About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential engineering consultancy in Germany that is building out a strategic datacenter practice. This is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing and scaling their datacenter business unit from the ground up. You'll combine business development, technical excellence, and project execution to deliver complex datacenter infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning.
Based in Frankfurt with a hybrid work arrangement, you'll collaborate with national and international specialists to establish a Competence Center for Datacenter as a core pillar of their service portfolio. This is an opportunity to shape sustainable, high-performance datacenter solutions in a growing market.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development and growth of the datacenter business unit, identifying new market opportunities and supporting acquisition and sales activities
- Build, lead, and develop the datacenter team while heading the international competence center
- Provide technical leadership and coordination for datacenter planning services across disciplines including electrical engineering, HVAC, instrumentation, and architecture
- Develop and implement highly available, energy-efficient datacenter infrastructure solutions in compliance with relevant standards and quality requirements
- Oversee complete planning and realization of complex datacenter projects, managing cost, schedule, quality, and resources in EPC and consulting frameworks
- Lead tender and procurement processes and manage external partners
- Coordinate with clients, authorities, utility providers, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
- Guide construction execution, commissioning, and project closeout activities
- Advise clients on sustainable and future-proof datacenter solutions, conducting risk analyses and identifying optimization potential
- Monitor and integrate current market and technology trends in the datacenter space
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or comparable technical field
- Multiple years of professional and leadership experience in datacenter project planning, development, or delivery
- Proven expertise in developing and managing complex datacenter projects
- Deep knowledge of electrical infrastructure for datacenters and high-availability power systems
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or EPC projects
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability, and modern datacenter concepts
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Experience in risk analysis, value engineering, and technical project optimization
- Strong project management, technical documentation, and organizational development capabilities
- Entrepreneurial mindset with experience building new business units or market segments
- Leadership competence, communication strength, and confident stakeholder management
- Fluent German and English required
